Okay, so I missed the second blog entry; Thursday comes around fast. I know it’s been before Friday and after Wednesday for as long as I can remember but, I honestly forgot.
Although I’ve already been graded for it, I’m back and I’m better. In blog one, I spoke about not knowing who I’d intern for. I know my skills, and I know where I can best flourish. After deliberating, I decided to work under Colin Myers Photography and Design.
Even though he may work at the university, we aren’t far apart in age. That helps tremendously when it comes to discussing ideas, concepts and visions that I have. Being in his 30’s Colin still has the urge to be innovative and creative. He’s one of the reasons I started to pick up the camera more. Well him and my oh so awesome professor, Mr. Fairwell. (Hi, Mr. Fairwell haha)
Anywho, Colin recognized me in public as a photographer before I ever considered myself one. I’m still hesitant on labeling myself as such. He first noticed my work over social media on Valentine’s Day. This was when I was shooting with solely my iPhone 6. I’m really really really into editorial photography. I love anything magazine related; my close friend and roommate, Gabrielle Vogt, serves as my go to muse. Here is her favorite iPhone shot from that day.

Later, she gave me her DSLR to try out; she own’s a T3 and it was my first time shooting with anything other than my phone. The next two pictures were taken by that.
Since then I’ve fallen in love with it. I even purchased my own Canon T6 on Amazon Prime Day along with different lens and other supporting equipment. Colin has seen my growth and has agreed to invest time in me. For that alone, I am grateful. He knows of my passion for writing, editing and creating visuals. He’s ready to work on my magazine and he’s even been willing to take direction from me. I believe this a good choice. I am diligent, dedicated and ready to work. So to him I say, “Let’s work!”
Below are my most recent shoots directed by me. This set was taken with an iPhone!
This next set comes from my first shoot with my camera. I hate the way Instagram crops. By the end of this course I’ll have an online portfolio dedicated to my visuals. But for now, enjoy!
